Privacy Policy
GarageList is operated by JSXInnovations ("GarageList", "we", "us"). It is an app and website for documenting vehicle builds, sharing them with your crew, and buying and selling cars and parts on The Swap. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the GarageList mobile app and to garagelist.app.
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address, password (stored encrypted by our authentication provider, never readable by us), display name and profile photo. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from that service.
- Garage content: vehicles, VINs, mileage, build timeline events, parts, notes and photos you add.
- Marketplace activity: listings you post (including price, description, photos and the city and state you enter), offers you make or receive, and listings you save.
- Messages and crews: direct messages, crew chat messages, crew membership and event details you post.
- Legacy beneficiary: if you name a beneficiary for your garage, their name, relationship and email address.
- Reports: content you report and the reason you give.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting providers keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, device type and time of request) to operate and secure the service. The app does not use advertising trackers, and we do not track your precise location. Locations shown on listings and events come only from what you type in.
How we use information
- To run GarageList: store your garage, show your listings and profile, deliver messages, offers and notifications.
- To keep the community safe: review reports, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our rules.
- To support you and send service messages, such as sign-in codes and password resets.
- To improve the app. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
What other people can see
Anything you make public is visible to other users, and some of it to anyone on the web:
- Your username, profile photo and public garage.
- Vehicles and parts you list on The Swap, including photos, price, description, city and state. Shared listing links (garagelist.app/listing/…) can be opened by anyone with the link, and may appear in search engines.
- Crew content is visible to members of that crew. Direct messages and offers are visible only to the people in the conversation.
Please don't put your home address, phone number or other private details in public listings or photos.
Service providers
We use trusted providers to run GarageList. They process data only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase: database, file storage and sign-in.
- Cloudflare: hosting for garagelist.app.
- Google and Apple: optional sign-in, and app distribution and in-app purchases through their stores.
- OpenStreetMap (Nominatim): turns event addresses you enter into map locations.
- NHTSA vPIC: decodes VINs you enter to fill in vehicle details. Only the VIN is sent.
We may also share information if required by law, to protect people's safety, or as part of a sale or merger of GarageList (in which case this policy continues to apply).
Payments
GarageList Pro subscriptions are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see or store your card details. Payments between buyers and sellers on The Swap happen outside GarageList; we are not a party to those sales.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your information while your account is active. You can edit or delete your vehicles, listings and photos at any time, and you can delete your whole account in the app under Profile > Profile & Login > Delete account. When you delete your account, we delete your profile and garage content. Messages you sent may remain visible to the people you sent them to, and backups are cleared on a rolling basis.
Your choices and rights
You can access, correct or delete your information in the app, or contact us for a copy of your data. Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU/UK), you may have additional rights, such as to request access, correction, deletion or portability, or to object to certain processing. We will respond to verified requests as the law requires.
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls and row-level security in our database so users can only change their own data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Children
GarageList is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy. If we make significant changes, we will let you know in the app or by email. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
